2004 Flux wins Gold Crown Award
What began in 1993 as a vehicle to showcase the talent of student writers, editors, photographers, designers, and producers continues to be a collegiate media powerhouse. The members of the 2004 staff of Flux magazine have won one of the top prizes in college journalism, the Gold Crown Award from Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Flux's 2004 issue was named one of the four best college magazines in the U.S. “We’re proud of their fine work regardless of what award committees say,” 2004 Flux faculty adviser Brett Campbell says. “But it’s great to see their efforts recognized, and a tribute to all the faculty who taught them.“ Hundreds of student magazines were entered into the competition. Other winners of the Collegiate Gold Crown award were: Ethos, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa; The Huron River Review, Washtenaw Community College, Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Voice Where Prohibited, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. This is the eleventh gold crown award for the magazine since its inception in 1993. The CSPA (live link) is an international student press association owned by Columbia University since 1925 and operated through its graduate school of journalism. Flux 2005 is well underway and will be published in June 2005. A link to past issues is available here.
