were present for the eighth annual Hall of Achievement dinner and
awards event held at Valley River Inn on November 3. school year.

New faculty welcomed to Allen Hall
A recent SOJC Ph.D. graduate with a research focus on Latin America
and an advertising creative with decades of teaching experience
were welcomed as new members of the SOJC faculty this fall. Gabriela
Martinez, a documentary filmmaker from xx began in September as
an Assistant Professor in the school’s Electronic
Media Major.

SOJC to host conference on “Cross-Border Cultural Production” in April 2006
Scholars, students, industry, labor and government representatives
will meet on the UO campus to explore the economic, political and
cultural implications of cross-border cultural production as the
SOJC joins forces with other UO and community organizations to
host “Cross Border Cutural Production: Economic Runaway
or Globalization” in April 2006. The conference will
focus on the decentralization of television and film production
as many producers eschew Hollywood in favor of Canada and other
U.S. locations.

AHPR
promotes the “American Food Fight.”
Allen Hall Public Relations, the SOJC’s student-managed
public relations agency, recently developed and implemented a media
relations campaign in just six weeks for their newest client, The
American Food Fight™. But the event that took place on Friday,
November 11 in Portland’s Memorial Coliseum didn’t
look like another scene from Eugene-favorite Animal House (although
that was filmed on the UO campus).
