Barbara Lamb, '44

Barbara J. Lamb, a veteran McGraw-Hill editor, died March 23, 1998, of a sudden heart attack in her Los Angeles home at the age of 75.

A 1944 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism, she started her career as a general assignment reporter on The Journal in Portland. She joined McGraw-Hill in New York in 1953 as news editor of Engineering News-Record. In 1960, she transferred to the news bureau in Los Angeles as a correspondent.

Later, as Bureau Chief, she headed up coverage of Southern California and the Southwest for that company's many technical and trade publications. She retired in 1987. Interment was held in Pioneer Cemetery, Portland.

Jeannine Macaulay Hollenbeck, '50

Jeannine Macaulay Hollenbeck of Sunriver died at a care home in Bend June 10, 1998. She was 69.

Jeannine was born in Chehalis, Wash., on Nov.13, 1928 to Gordon and Pearle (Salter) Macaulay.

She attended the University of Oregon, graduating in 1950 with a bachelor of arts and a major in journalism. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and was active in campus politics.

She married Willard "Bill" Hollenbeck in Portland on June 17, 1950. They have been married for almost 48 years.

Jeannine enjoyed playing tennis, fishing and golf. She moved to Sunriver in 1989. she was active in volunteer work for the "Sunriver Scene" and the Sunriver Library.

Survivors include her husband Willard of Sunriver; three daughters, Susan Cabral of Corning, Calif.; Sandi Hollenbeck of Corvallis, and Jan Hollenbeck of Salinas, Calif.

A gathering of family and friends was held. Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Friends of the Sunriver Library, P.O. Box 4563 Sunriver, 97707.

David Kline, '97

Services have been held for David Charles Kline of Springfield, who died Feb. 5 at age 28. His family did not disclose the cause of death.

Kline was born June 3, 1969, in Sacramento, Calif. to Richard and Linda Kline. He attended Thurston and Springfield high schools and graduated in 1987 from Folsom High School. In 1997, he received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Oregon.

He married Emily Plant in Salem on Dec. 2, 1991. His interests included photography and Website development.

Survivors include his wife; his father of Eugene; his mother, Linda Petersen of Fair Oaks, Calif.; two brothers, William of Portland and Richard of Chicago; and a sister, Janet Stone of Roseburg.

Major/Fredericksen Springfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
