On September 18, 1999, two bowhunters found the body of Ted Natt, former publisher of The (Longview) Daily News and distinguished SOJC alum, in the wreckage of his helicopter in the woods near the Columbia River.

The School of Journalism and Communication welcomed an exciting array of distinguished visitors during the fall term. Advertising executives, photo editors, authors, designers and newspaper writers made a informative and thought-provoking presentations and led discussions on topics ranging from the effect of media on politics, to the role of account planning in creating advertising.
