Roy William Adams, '58

Roy William Adams, ’58, died August 3 in Lakewood, Ohio. An active journalist for 33 years, Adams was runner-up for the 1971 Pulitzer Prize in Public Service for his series on “Crises in GI Insurance.” Adams was a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves (retired), an active outdoorsman and a member of the Arnold Bennett Hall Society of the UO Foundation, as well as a member of a number of other professional, military and community organizations.


Van Mueller

Vern Mueller, former SOJC faculty member, died on Christmas Eve of a massive heart attack. He was at home with his family, and efforts by paramedics to revive him were unsuccessful. Mueller, who taught broadcast management at the UO, was head of the Oregon Association of Broadcasters for many years during the 1970s and ‘80s. He had a long career on the air, as a weatherman for KOIN-TV in Portland, and the Trailblazers’ announcer on KPOJ radio. A memorial service was held at Rose City Cemetery in Portland on January 7


Roger Thomas Tetlow, '49

Roger Thomas Tetlow, ’49, Northwest author, historian and SOJC alumnus recently died in Portland after a lengthy illness. An Astoria native, Mr. Tetlow was the author of two nonfiction books: The Astorian and Barbey; the Story of a Columbia River Salmon Packer. Tetlow was an active journalist in the Pacific Northwest and a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Muriel Jean, three daughters, three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
