The Nelson family has endowed the Lyle M. Nelson scholarship in tribute to the former UO professor and founder of the Stanford Knight Fellowship. Nationally honored as a leader in higher education, an inspiring teacher and a dedicated conservationist, Nelson was also recently inducted into the School of Journalism and Communication Hall of Achievement. The scholarship will be awarded to majors or pre-majors in the journalism school who have demonstrated, through their work for the Oregon Daily Emerald, outstanding potential in journalism. The Larry R. Williams Scholarship Larry Williams, 64, established the Larry R. Williams Scholarship in honor of former School of Journalism and Communication Professor Max Wales. An experienced executive in public relations and advertising, Wales came to the UO in 1957 and served as the head of the advertising program until his retirement in 1977. Max told it like it was so we could deal with the world as it was, said Williams, whose intends the scholarship to reward students with talent and motivation rather than simply the students with the highest grades. Williams is the author of Long-Term Secrets to Short-Term Trading
(Wiley Trading Advantage), The Definitive Guide to Futures Trading
and How I Made a Million Dollars Trading Commodities Last Year.
