1940

Wendell Brooks is now retired. He celebrated his 80th birthday on Nov. 15. He has three great-grandchildren, 14 grandchildren and five children spread out across the country. His interests include poetry, fiction, painting and his grandchildren.

1943

Ray Clark Dickson is a poet. He recently celebrated his 78th birthday and his 60th reading. In 1994, his tribute poems to Charles Bukowski were read at the Beat Generation Legacy and Celebration.

1945

Anne Hecker received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Women in Communications at the organization's national meeting, held in Minneapolis in July.

1967

Michael D. Sullivan has been promoted to director of corporate communications for Potlatch Corp. He and his wife, Maxine, just moved to Post Falls, Idaho.

1973

Linda Jean Welch Crew just had her seventh novel published. Long Time Passing is a coming-of-age story set during the turbulent 1960's. The publisher is Bantam Doubleday Dell.

1976

Rob Melton was recently elected vice president of the Journalism Education Association. He also completed a master's degree in education curriculum and instruction at Portland State University. He teaches at Benson Polytechnic High School and each summer at the University of Iowa. He advises Benson's student newspaper and is a co-founder of the Publications 2000 corporation, which provides training and consulting to print media. Melton also chairs the editorial board of The United Methodist magazine.

1978

John H. Henderson is a sportswriter in Denver. He is working as the national baseball writer for The Denver Post.

1980

Jeff W. Johnson is a staff systems engineer for Lockheed Martin Corporation/Management and Data Systems. Also, he was recently selected for promotion to commander in the U. S. Naval Reserve.

George L. Winship worked for more than 10 years at the Redding Record-Searchlight in Redding, Calif. Then he was recruited by California's 4th Senate District to work for Sen. K. Maurice Johannessen.

1982

Ida Yee-Yee Choy is the program manager and anchor for San Francisco Chinese Radio. She wrote that she deeply appreciates the education she received from the School of Journalism and Communication.

Dena Minato recently returned to her position as an English and journalism teacher at West Albany High School after spending last year as a Fulbright Exchange teacher. She was accompanied by her husband and their two children.

Lisa Marie Petersen currently writes for the TV show,"In the House." She and her husband live on the west side of Los Angeles.

Sunn Stevenson Thomas left the employment of Hartford Insurance Group in May and became self-employed, managing a number of assets for income. Thomas is currently living in Texas. He volunteers for the Seattle-based New Roadmap Foundation showing people how to align their spending with their values.

1983

Robert J. King is a producer for Paramount Pictures. He recently optioned the film and TV rights to the 1988 coming-of-age novel Kick the Can.

Theresa L Marshall is an escrow officer with the Oregon Title Insurance Company. She and her husband recently bought his childhood home from his mother. They are looking forward to years of projects in the future.

1984

Cathryn T. Curran works at Standard Insurance Company. She was recently promoted to senior client service representative. She was one of the winners of the annual "Life at Standard" writing contest, and won a $500 grant for Portland's Ronald McDonald Houses through Standard's "Dollars for Doers" program. She has continued freelance writing and had a second story published in The Oregonian. She also volunteers at Ronald McDonald House West in Portland.

David Alan Kosse is the senior vice president for Polygram Film International. He recently moved with his wife and two daughters to London to oversee worldwide marketing for Polygram.

Carolyn O'Brien Miller started her own advertising agency in 1991. It specializes in food service and retail food advertising, marketing and event coordination. She and her husband also have two daughters, Katie, 7, and Madeline, 5.

Randy Petty is working as vice president for development at Dowling College, a 6,250-student private liberal arts college on Long Island. Petty lives on the north shore and is restoring a home more than 100 years old.

1985

Eric R. Norcross is the president and spokesperson of the Toaster Museum Foundation, as well as the designer and editor of Hotwire, the foundation's newsletter. He keeps"finding ways to keep very busy without making any money."

1986

Lisa M. Baeckel Cox moved from Hawaii to New Orleans in August 1996. That September, she gave birth to twins. Now she is enjoying being a full-time mom.

Maureen E. Driscoll spent 10 years in Washington, D.C. as a press secretary, then moved to Los Angeles to work in publicity at Sony and later USA Network. In October 1997, she was one of five people selected for a screen writing fellowship program at Disney."Thank you, Sally-Jo Bowman, for making me a good writer."

Michelle G. Edwards is a communications consultant with New Century Energies. She recently returned from China with a newly adopted baby girl, Lauren Jingxin Edwards.

Mary Mitsuji Sakakibara is the member and regional affairs manager for Lane Electric. She manages the energy services, marketing and communications programs for customers and employees. She also oversees member relations and media and governmental affairs.

1987

Carol Provenzano is director of communications for Wasatch Constructor. She left environmental communications after nine years to lead communications efforts for the largest design/build road construction project in the country.

Joanne Wolfe started her own publishing company, Wolfe Communications Group Inc., in 1995. Her first magazine was launched in January 1998, and she expects to launch a second in 1999.

1988

Martin P. Bedogne is working in film production. He just finished a documentary about gay and lesbian parenting. It will air on the Sundance Channel. Currently, he is working on a new film about the world at the turn of the millennium.

Jerry W. Olson recently accepted a job with Turner Broadcasting as vice president/creative director of advertising for the Cartoon Network in Atlanta.

1989

Susan Otolski has been promoted to manager of sponsorship sales for the Chicago Cubs. She has worked for the Cubs' marketing department since 1994. Otolski had her picture taken with Barry Williams (Greg Brady) at Wrigley Field, where Williams performed the National Anthem on'70s Night.

1990

Perelandra L. Cogswell Wait is the media supervisor for Hal Riney & Partners, Inc.

1991

Jennifer Archer is currently living in Portland and working for the Portland Hilton as a meetings and conventions assistant."I have yet another job, but this one I really like! Work with all the big conventions - there's an association for everything! Go Ducks!"

1992

Helen van Phan has been busy. After graduating, she worked in advertising. Then she moved to Portland to work for U of O in the Continuation Center Microcomputer Program and eventually became associate director. While working, she completed her M.S. in Applied Information Management. Now she works in a marketing position at Intel Corp. She recently completed a CD-ROM project and is currently revamping an Internet site.

Randon R. Riley a district manager for Chrysler Corp. Last year, he and his wife Lisa moved to Houston, Texas, where he manages the sales, P.R. and marketing efforts of seven dealerships. Also, he recently helped coordinate a sales training event for the New Dodge Durango SUV at the AstroDome with over 500 sales consultants in attendance.

1993

Glen A. St. Louis is in private legal practice in San Francisco and Geneva. He specializes in criminal defense, international estate planning and native rights. He received his law degree from University of California-Berkeley School of Law and is recognized as an American jurisprudence evidence scholar. He has published three law review articles pertaining to labor relations in professional sports, native sovereignty in Quebec, and use of international law in municipal criminal defense. St. Louis misses the summer and fall in Oregon and credits the School for his success!

1994

Chris Barron got a job as a sports writer with The Sun in Bremerton, Wash., in October. He will be covering University of Washington football. He says,"I am excited about this job because it is my first opportunity to cover a major college team as a beat writer."

1995

Lesley D. Penater is the marketing programs manager for the Extensis Corporation. She manages all of the trade shows Extensis attends. She assists with all of their direct mail campaigns and advertising.

April D. Thomas was recently promoted to 5:00 p.m. news producer at Fisher Broadcasting/KATU/Channel 2. Also, she was recognized with the Edward R. Murrow Award for best continuing coverage of the flood of 1996.

1996

Marie F. Andre is the special programs director for the Aerospace Industry Association of Oregon. She plans trade shows and conferences, both national and international, and also produces the association web page, quarterly newsletter and other publications. Currently, she is putting together the strategic plan for 1998 and furthering the association's communications with target audiences.

Kori Rochelle Clifton is a producer/reporter for KEZI-TV.
