Smullin Family funds digital lab
The Smullin Digital Media Lab will replace the existing broadcast computer lab in Allen Hall. The lab will be renovated with a $50,000 pledge from broadcasting executive Patsy Smullin, who announced the gift 65 years after her father launched a company starting the first radio and television stations north of San Francisco.

Electronic Media Center   Chambers gift creates "hot spot"

The addition of the Electronic Media Center has brought the video production sequence into Allen Hall. As a new gathering spot, the Center provides a space for students to share ideas and exhibit their work.

White House interns   A White House intern – and proud of it

Among the many rumors circling the White House these days are a lot of myths about White House interns. I was an intern in the White House speechwriting department this summer. I did not know Monica Lewinsky, and really could care less about her. What I regret is that this incident has shed a negative light on what is really a remarkable program and a motivated, ambitious group of students.

The School of Journalism and Communication teamed up with the ACLU of Oregon to bring "Paparazzi, the Princess, and the Press: Media Ethics in a Post-Diana World" to the Erb Memorial Union Nov. 6. The panelists included representatives of the School, the ACLU and local media.
